Emerging Manager

An emerging manager is a GP raising one of their first funds — most LPs draw the line at Fund I through Fund III, often with a size cap. The category spans spinouts from established firms, operator-angels going pro, and solo GPs. Data cuts both ways: early funds carry execution risk but small, hungry funds are disproportionately represented among top performers, which is why dedicated emerging manager programs exist.
