Management Company

The management company is the operating business of a VC firm: it employs the investment team and platform staff, holds the brand and infrastructure, and receives the management fee. It is legally distinct from the individual funds and from the GP entities that hold carried interest. Think of it as the firm's payroll and overhead engine, which persists across fund vintages.
