Limited Partner (LP)

A limited partner is a passive investor that commits capital to a venture fund but takes no part in investment decisions. Their liability is capped at the amount they commit. Typical VC LPs include university endowments, foundations, pension funds, funds-of-funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals — and for emerging managers, often other GPs and operators.
