Capital Call (Drawdown)
A capital call is the GP's request that LPs wire in a portion of their committed capital, made when the fund needs money for investments or fees. LPs do not fund their full commitment upfront; capital is drawn over several years, often quarterly or semi-annually. Failing to meet a call can trigger steep default penalties under the LPA, and some funds use a subscription line to smooth call timing.
