Fund Structure
Investment Period
The investment period is the window, usually the fund's first three to five years, during which the GP may make new investments. After it ends, the fund can generally only follow on into existing portfolio companies and pay expenses. It also marks when management fees typically step down and when LPs expect the GP to be raising the next fund.
